Happy 100th Anniversary
PASTIME AMUSEMENT COMPANY

In the summer of 1908, Charleston theater owners met to discuss the benefits of consolidation. As a result Pastime Amusement Company was formed. The group, made up of Mr. J.C. Sherrill, Mr. A.T. Jennings, George S. Brantley, and James Sottile, chose Albert Sottile as President. Pastime Amusement Company dominated film exhibition in Charleston for decades. Under Albert Sottile's guidance, the company built some of Charleston most beautiful theaters, including the Garden, Victory, Gloria, Arcade, American, and the Riviera. To steal a line from Bob Hope, "Thanks for the Memories."
